Located just below Black Hill, this Wessenden Moor circular hike is a 6km circular route taking in the scenic moorland, streams and farmland of the Wessenden Moor. With views down to Digley reservoir, this is a great Holmfirth walk to do with kids (but we snuck out while our daughter was at school so didn't take her with us). If you are looking for walks in the Holmfirth area, get the route map ... READ MORE »

South Nab Trig Point and Windleden Reservoirs
This is a circular hike taking in the trig point at South Nab and Windleden Reservoirs, both Upper Windleden and Lower Windleden. It's a great walk for kids as it's not challenging but does use Open Access moorland so be sure to check the rules on dogs before taking your furry friends along as there are ground nesting birds and livestock on the moors. At 6km, this is a lovely family friendly ... READ MORE »
Pule Hill Circular Walk
This Pule Hill circular walk is full of amazing rock formations, reservoirs and beautiful moorland. At just over 10km this walk only has a couple of steep climbs and is gentle for most of the way (plus finishes in a pub, as always!). Here's our Pule Hill walking route, taking in Pule Hill Quarry and the amazing hidden Pule Arch before venturing over the moorland to Swellands and Black Moss ... READ MORE »

Black Hill Circular Walk, Holmfirth – Yorkshire Walks
Back in May the husband and I decided to have a day off together and hit the hills. He likes to go to high places so we headed out on a Black Hill circular walk, starting at the parking spot on Greenfield Road. It was also an opportunity to get started with the Peak District trig bagging challenge! This route is quite challenging in places, so isn't really suitable for small children and you need ... Circular Walk from Marsden to Wessenden Head
My obsession with heather continues... Today saw us venture into the Colne Valley to have a circular walk from Marsden to Wessenden Head Reservoir. Well, it's a kind of out-and-back walk but we went out on the high path and came back on the low, making it a circular walk. I've taken about a billion photos so I apologise in advance for the reservoir spam. ... READ MORE »
Circular Walk Around Harden Moss in Holmfirth
Earlier this week I snuck out of work early and headed up onto the tops with Hols and Mr R. Don't worry, my boss doesn't mind. I work for myself! We headed out on a circular walk around Harden Moss in Holmfirth, the home of the famous sheepdog trials. Sadly there were no sheepdogs on our walk today but we did see plenty of sheep! ...
