Peak District Stepping Stones
If you’re the kind of walker who loves a bit of fun along the way, you’re going to love these Peak District walks with stepping stones. There’s just something a bit magical about hopping across a river, stone by stone – and the views aren’t bad either! From the well-loved Dovedale stepping stones to the dramatic ones at Cheedale and the more hidden gems near Hathersage, each walk comes with its own scenic twist. Perfect for family adventures, photo stops or just a little moment of joy mid-hike, these Peak District stepping stones walks are ones to add to your to-hike list.
I’ve included this last one purely because there are some stepping stones in Dane Bower Quarries. They’re not as spectacular as some of the other ones, but the rest of the route more than makes up for that!
Some of these stepping stones walks may be inaccessible after periods of heavy rain as the stepping stones will be covered. You can check the level of the River Derwent here. They may also be slippery, so take care with small children and dogs when crossing them. Hopefully you’ll stay dry!
I’ll keep updating this post as we discover more Peak District stepping stones.
